One of the major studies in the lab is the manufacture and application of silicon-based microtip. Microtip fabrication is based on anisotropic and isotropic etching processes and can be used as an electrode array using microtip.

Microtip with high aspect ratio can easily penetrate skin or cell. We are conducting biosensor research such as EEG measurement, electrochemical measurement of photosynthetic cells, and metabolism measurement. In the case of photosynthetic cell oxygen measurement, cell assembly template was prepared by using photosensitizer and the microtip surface was grown by growing ZnO nanowires on the microtip electrode. Research is underway to change or apply the structure based on the microtip structure.
